Here at Tor.com, we feel that Voyager was one of the abused stepchildren of the Star Trek family. We love doing Janeway impressions in the office and at least half of us love Kes’s first haircut. We all remember watching the show when it was first airing, but judging by the below clip of a Teen Jeopardy episode from the 1990s, we may have been the only ones to do so.
The good stuff starts at 1:30! (This is real. Not a spoof. I don’t think you could write a skit this funny.)
Stubby the Rocket is the voice and mascot of Tor.com. Stubby would clean up in any Star Trek Jeopardy! category. Except for “Potpourri.”
wow, I got 3/5, and I’ve never even seen an episode of Voyager.
It’s not just Voyager.. those twits never saw Star Trek in ANY variation..
Or Reading Rainbow.
Holy smokes… seriously? The best is the last line: “Aren’t you glad we abandoned Star Trek Voyager?” Priceless.
What #2 said. The first question is answerable by anyone who knew TOS. The 4th question could be answered by anyone who was a fan of TNG. Only two of the questions were Voyager specific.
I like how they just kept grimly drilling down that one category. You’d think after two questions with no attempted answers, they’d just abandon that whole track entirely. It was almost as good as SNL’s parody of Jeopardy. “We meet again, Trebek.”
A sad state of affairs indeed.
Concur. Not knowing a Vulcan?
I got 5/5 which is sad for another reason entirely.
@5 – They couldn’t abandon it – it’s the only category that was left, and you have to at least try to clear the board. Part of the joke is that (as @2 said) they’ve never seen Star Trek at all, and did absolutely everything else on the board before they reluctantly took on the STV column. And knew… nothing. Well, okay, at least the one kid knew there was a bridge…
I got all 5 correct but I did watch the show. I think the doctor’s mobile emitter was the only question you needed to have seen the show to answer correctly; outside of a WAG, that is.
As this category was the last one and they got no questions right, I figure they weren’t Trekkies in any shape or form and not just fans who didn’t watch Voyager.
Also, don’t forget Roots for Burton; although Reading Rainbow might be more relevant for them. ;-)

Ah, I see. The way it was edited, I didn’t realize that they were down to the last category when they started on the STV one. (On first view, I missed the shot showing that this was the final category.) Those kids just don’t have a well-rounded education!
I got 4/5. Could NOT remember Burton’s name until he said it.
But really? None of them knew anything?
Apparently the moral of the story is: teens who make it onto Teen Jeopardy! don’t watch TV. (The copyright at the end of the clip says it’s from 1999, when Voyager was still on the air. SRSLY)
I LOVED Voyager! Janeway was such a bada$$! That is the only Star Trek series that I can say I’ve seen a significant number of. I watched it obsessively in high school when it was on WGN late at night. The doctor was my favorite.
I got 5/5, but I watched all of the series. Although, I have to admit Enterprise lost me after awhile. As a teacher, I can’t believe they didn’t even have an educated guess to the question “Neelix was given this job so that we could save the power the FOOD replicators required.” Really.
I haven’t watched any Voyager in many years , but I got all 5 right. It’s surprising that a bunch of nerdy teens knew nothing about Trek.
On a different post on this site, the topic is the best alien ears, and it is mentioned that pointed ears are now known as “Vulcan” ears, rather than “Elf” ears. They should have at least gotten that one.
I was watching the BBC talk show Graham Norton the other day and Tom Hanks was on with Simon Pegg (Scotty in latest Star Trek movie) and they were testing each other on Trek trivia. The other guest was the former lead singer from the Pussycat Dolls, and when asked if she liked Star Trek, her reply was “I like the guy with the ears.”
